Side notes: I never really got into the train of Steins;Gate and watched the anime nor read the mangas (no need to mention the novels, CD's or games). So placing on that background I don't know anything about the story itself. For that reason I'm not able to say how this story plays it's role in the whole plot and scenario of the Steins;Gate series but I like the art which is pretty good if not on great level. To get in bottom of this I think it's good to read the original  novel/ manga or watch the anime to understand what's going on. Still even without doing so it's possible to read this manga though it might be less rewarding if not understanding the story behind.

Main character

Mayuri Shiina (椎名 まゆり)
Age: 16
Birthday: February 1, 1994
Blood type: O
Height: 152 cm
Weight: 45 kg
Size: 85-56-82

Second year in Kasensou Private Preparatory Academy. Childhood friend of Rintarou's, and slow by nature. Speaks in a very wavy manner, and seems to always be smiling and having fun. She's quite the optimist. She has trouble understanding complicated theories, but doesn't mind as long as it's enjoyable. Doesn't like people arguing, and is depressed when things are unpleasant. Though she'd like to ease the situation in such cases, she's not really good at reading between the lines. She often went with her grandmother to see the stars on her grandmother's back. Because of that, she has a habit of reaching her arm out to the sky at times, which has led Rintarou to naming it the "Stardust Shakehand." She abruptly does this (even if she's talking with someone), which surprises everyone around her.

Anime synopsis

The self-proclaimed mad scientist Rintarou Okabe rents out a room in a rickety old building in Akihabara, where he indulges himself in his hobby of inventing prospective "future gadgets" with fellow lab members: Mayuri Shiina, his air-headed childhood friend, and Hashida Itaru, a perverted hacker nicknamed "Daru." The three pass the time by tinkering with their most promising contraption yet, a machine dubbed the "Phone Microwave," which performs the strange function of morphing bananas into piles of green gel.

Though miraculous in itself, the phenomenon doesn't provide anything concrete in Okabe's search for a scientific breakthrough; that is, until the lab members are spurred into action by a string of mysterious happenings before stumbling upon an unexpected success—the Phone Microwave can send emails to the past, altering the flow of history.

Adapted from the critically acclaimed visual novel by 5pb. and Nitroplus, Steins;Gate takes Okabe through the depths of scientific theory and practicality. Forced across the diverging threads of past and present, Okabe must shoulder the burdens that come with holding the key to the realm of time.
