Synopsis: Amane Mikiko, better known as Mikki, is an elementary school student who moves a lot and has to transfer schools often. Nekota (猫田)
Nekota may come off indifferent and distant, but that's because he's not good at talking about himself. He's not cold or mean, but he isn't outgoing and loud. He's just laid-back and calm, able to get along with his classmates just fine. He also tends to be late to class.
He's a really good person that cares about people and he's quite observant since he can tell when Mikki is having a rough time or going through difficult or confusing situations.
He's not aware that Mikki sees him with a cat's face.
He also has a younger sister named "Meguru" and he cooks for her, himself, and his father, who works late and can't watch the two. He takes on the mother role because he doesn't have a mother.
He appears to enjoy hanging out with Mikki and his other friends.
At the beginning, he gets weirded out by Mikki because she'd stare and follow him and being really stalker-ish. And that's because she wanted to see his "human" face. But even so, he still cares about her despite being a bit weirded out. Even though she weirds him out, he likes that part of her.
They become close throughout the series. It's quite obvious that he likes Mikki, romantically.
Mikiko Amane (未 希子)
Age: 11
She is an energetic, friendly, and tomboyish girl who transfers to Nekota's school. From the beginning, she planned on not making any friends because she doesn't want to be hurt or hurt anyone from parting away from them because of her family constantly moving. But due to the interest in Nekota, she makes it her goal to be friends with him, unknowing that she'd make friends along the way.
She's naive and dense most of the time. She also can't read the atmosphere, so at times, it makes her seem inconsiderate and rude when she doesn't understand certain situations.
But even so, she's a really kind person at heart.
She's the only in her class to be able to see Nekota's face as a cat. And she decides to discover and figure out this mystery. Several times, she is able to see a very quick glimpse of his head. However, she's not able to see his human face yet.
She's also has zero experience with romance. To her, love is complicated. She likes all her friends, but Nekota is special to her. Her like towards Nekota is different than the others. However, she's too dense to realize it. She likes him, romantically.
Side notes: Yup, it's shoujo alright.XDDD I'm not huge fan of the genre but picking up some pieces time to time. I got interested the series mainly due of the synopsis not by the genre tag. And it can't be that bad if there is promotional ONA series made for it, plus it's a longer series - more than 1 volume published. So those were my criterias for this time.^-^b
Art is good as you can espect from shoujo and plot is decent so it's not a total waste of time. And if romance is your driving key, there is that added too... not overly sugary but still noticeable.
