Synopsis: With her mother dead and father long gone, Chise Hatori has spent her childhood being passed unwanted from relative to relative, until she finally makes her unfortunate way to a strange and improbable auction block. Offered as a “sleigh beggy” to the highest bidder, Chise is purchased by the (literally) boneheaded Elias Ainsworth, who promises to take her on as his apprentice. Elias is a mage, and his world is one of dragons and faeries - but before Chise can begin to get accustomed to all that nonsense, Elias drops another bombshell. Apparently Chise isn't just intended to be his apprentice - she will also be his bride.

 Background
Mahoutsukai no Yome was initially serialized in Monthly Comic Blade, until the magazine changed the format of publication from paper to digital, and moved to Comic Garden starting from the October 2014 issue.
The series has been published in English as The Ancient Magus' Bride by Seven Seas Entertainment since May 12, 2015. It will be also published in Spanish by Norma Editorial beginning April 2016.

Nominated for the 8th Manga Taisho Award (2015).

He is an ancient magician with both human and fae characteristics. Despite his appearance, he is gentle and polite with humans and shows a great interest in them. He understands why humans feel the emotions they do, but has never experienced them himself. 
One day, he buys Hatori Chise from the black market and makes her his Sorcerer's Apprentice.




Tanezaki, Atsumi
Chise Hatori (羽鳥 智世)

The protagonist and titular character of the story. She is the apprentice and future bride to Elias Ainsworth.
From the beginning, she had little self-preservation and would place the well-being of others above her own health. She can be rash with magic, exhausting herself.
