Synopsis: Every day in Japan, 2500 people die due to any number of causes. Do you think you'll be one of the ones to die? No, of course not. Do you think you'll win the lottery? You'd like to think so, we all would. But Sumida is different. He wants the status quo to remain in every way; live a normal life, get a normal job, have normal kids, never to be anyone fortunate or unfortunate, content in normalcy. Anyone who doesn't agree is foolish, doomed to live their life scraping up a mountain that they can never conquer, fated to die in despair wishing things had been better.
When his mother kicks his father out of the house and onto the streets, he thinks he'll be fine. When his mother leaves him to live with her boyfriend, he makes the best of it. When he realizes that he's no longer average, he strives to make his life worthwhile the only way he knows how. When the demons in the back of his mind speak to him, he tries his best to ignore them.

Side note: This manga is something that I really don't like to read but it can be something that someone else likes so I pushed it to he on the Extra mangas as reference.^-^ Reasons why I still am keeping this manga with me is: The story is well constructed; Characters are unique; and it Challenges the "normal" that we see around us and how fast it all can change... - though I can't say that I like the manga after all these facts.XP And the art it can be considered being on a good level but it's not stylized in the way that it'd be considered "good." It's a bit too extravaganza.
Main character
Sumida is a 15-year-old school kid living a dystopian existence where his parents hope and encourage him to die. His life gets more miserable when his mother decides to run away with her lover. Sumida is left alone to manage the family's languishing boat-rental business.
He fights frequently with his father and tends to reject friendly advances of others. Sumida sees his simple dream for an ordinary future rapidly evaporating before his eyes.
