Side notes: This manga found its place on my reading list after I saw the movie. The second reason for me to pick this one up to read was Your lie in April that really charmed me away with the text, charas and art. Piano no mori may lack a bit in style but that doesn't take away the marvellous story and charas that it creates. And yup, It's A Long Series.\^-^/ Soo more or less this is manga that I like even though there is drama in it too, and I don't read drama with passion in my eyes.

Kai Ichinose (一ノ瀬 海)
Birthday: August 1

Kai Ichinose is a problem child on the surface. He lives with his mother, Ichinose Reiko, in run-down neighborhood that's right by a forest. At first, Kai hates his teacher Ajino Sousuke, but after some convincing by his mother, he agrees to study the piano with Ajino.

Shuuhei Amamiya (雨宮修平)

Shuhei Amamiya transfers to Moriwaki Elementary filled with hope and ambition about his new life. But it doesn't take long before he gets picked on by the class bullies, and gets involved in a dare to play the mysterious piano in the forest, leading to his meeting an enigmatic child that goes by the name of Kai Ichinose, who seems to be the only one capable of getting sound out of the thought-to-be broken piano. His ability earns him the respect of Shuhei and his music teacher, former master pianist Sosuke Ajino. At first Kai is resistant to refining his art but after hearing Sosuke play a Chopin piece he just can't seem to play by himself, he relents.
