Synopsis: Bravely Default revolves around four young heroes of Luxendarc: the wind vestal, Agnès Oblige, who finds the wind crystal consumed in darkness; a mysterious vagrant named Ringabel with no memory of his past; Edea Lee of the Duchy of Eternia, who is sent on a mission to protect the world from a great evil; and a youth named Tiz Arrior who witnesses his brother and his hometown Norende being swallowed up by a great chasm.
Coming to a week after Norende's destruction in the city of Caldisla, Tiz attempts to find survivors in the Norende Ravine. But he instead finds Agnès and Airy, a cryst-fairy who appears to be helping the vestal awaken the crystals out of their corruption which is causing natural calamities across Luxendarc. But Agnès is being pursued by the Knights of the Eternian Sky, who have been terrorizing Caldisla, and aim to keep the crystals from being awakened. Though Agnès refused his aid at first, Tiz manages to convince her to let him help her in her quest. Soon after, the two are joined by Ringabel and Edea, the latter disgusted with the Sky Knights' dishonorable actions while amazed to find the vestal not to be as evil as she was raised to believe.

Side notes: The manga scans that I read were separated in three chapters... which was kinda not fun to read. The art style is something between shoujo and shounen without being either one. The feel is a bit like FMA or Hunter x Hunter mix although the art is better. And there is also action so the manga combines pretty many things together.
Tiz Arrior (ティズ・オーリア)
The sole survivor of Norende, Tiz Arrior is haunted by his failure to save his brother. He won't rest until he has restored his village.
"A young man, and sole survivor of the Great Chasm. After waking, he had a fateful encounter with the wind vestal, Agnès.
A nineteen-year-old boy from Norende. A simple and honest soul, he has a gentle and amiable demeanor that makes him well-liked. He acts as a mediator between friends, and often ends up with a lot on his plate (for which I am partly responsible).

Initially dispatched by her father—the Grand Marshal of the Eternian Forces—to capture Agnès, Edea eventually joins Tiz's party in their quest to seek the truth and restore balance to the world.
A beautiful girl who served under the black mage when Caldisla was set alight. Unable to forgive the duchy's brutality, she switched allegiance to the vestal.
An eighteen-year-old girl hailing from Eternia. On first impression, she appears to be a spoiled princess type. However, while strong-willed and opinionated, she is also kind and filled with a sense of justice. She never shies away from a conflict.

Agnès watches over the Wind Crystal, one of the four crystals worshiped by faithful of Crystal Orthodoxy. When a dark power overruns her temple and the world, she sets off on a quest to awaken the crystals.
Of the Oblige line, she met Airy on a hill above the chasm. She encountered Tiz as foretold after he miraculously escaped death.
A twenty-year-old girl from Ancheim. As a vestal of the Wind, she has devoted her life to the crystals. She escaped the Temple of Wind after it was overrun by dark forces, and came to investigate the Great Chasm. She has absolutely no sense of direction.

Ringabel (リングアベル)
Confident and charming, the rakish Ringabel remembers nothing of the past. The future is another story—this maidens' man possesses a mysterious journal that tells him his destinations and the people he will meet.
"Though my memory is gone, this name seems engraved upon my mind somehow. A tattered journal is my sole remaining possession. Who am I?
A man of unknown age, currently experiencing amnesia. Clearly a man of high morals. Taciturn and reflective, I believe I am a gentleman well-liked by all.
