Synopsis: There once lived a vampire known as Vanitas, hated by his own kind for being born under a blue full moon, as most arise on the night of a crimson one. Afraid and alone, he created the "Book of Vanitas," a cursed grimoire that would one day take his vengeance on all vampires; this is how the story goes at least.

Vanitas no Carte follows Noé, a young man travelling aboard an airship in 19th century Paris with one goal in mind: to find the Book of Vanitas. A sudden vampire attack leads him to meet the enigmatic Vanitas, a doctor who specializes in vampires and, much to Noé's surprise, a completely ordinary human. The mysterious doctor has inherited both the name and the infamous text from the Vanitas of legend, using the grimoire to heal his patients. But behind his kind demeanor lies something a bit more sinister...

Vanitas no Carte is simultaneously published in English as The Case Study of Vanitas by Yen Press on the same day as the Japanese release.

Side notes: As this is a licensed manga in English one should buy it or go to library to read it... but as I'm tied to my internet I took around about way and "read" the manga in Spanish  (also available in French) with the help of the chapter synopses to guide me through of the hardest parts to understand.^-^

The art is great and clean so it's easy to enjoy. My biggest worry is the plot 'cause I'm not avid reader of vampire themed mangas mainly 'cause they tend to be copies of the same things with no new insight to the matter.>.<; The chapters are quite long which keeps the story moving in a good pace without interruptions... but still I do feel like I'm again reading something that has nothing new to give for a reader. Well I can only blame myself reading a lots and lots of fantasy stories and novels which makes me react a bit bored if there isn't a new angle or innovation in present. So if you kindly wish to go forward with this manga you can forget my mumble here and enjoy the story.^-^b
