Synopsis: Eishi Karasuma is a loner with a monotone life and his only friend is Mikisada Kamoda. One day they venture together while skipping class and they meet Tsubame, a very energetic girl, and Rei Sagisawa, a pretty boy that attends the same middle school. On their way back to school a sudden event happens. A mysterious boy with wings will come to help.

Side notes: I like this manga quite a bit. It somehow reminds me of all good shounen with action and superpowers. It follows the pretty well fitting right into the spot where it belongs. Art is good and even quite clear for shounen manga. Charas may at first feel too stereotypical with teenage angst and situations but that's just the prologue.^-^

It's also been published for some time now so that tells the story of successful adaptation that readers like. So  I'm keeping on my reading list and recommend it for others that like this type of manga. It's not a Fairy tail nor OnePiece but good one in it's own universe.

Eishi/ Eiichi Karasuma (烏丸 英司)
Age: 15

Eishi Karasuma is an average student who has only one friend, Mikasada Kamoda. He is smart and silently looks down upon the other students and does his best not to look like one of them. One day, he and Kamoda are on a bus ride home, with the only other passengers being Rei Sagisawa and Umino Tsubame. The bus derails and falls off a cliff, but everyone is miraculously saved, aside from the bus driver. While he and Kamoda are talking about how they might've survived, wings grow from their backs, and he discovers that he is the same kind as the Birdman that has been spotted around Japan.

Takayama Sou (鷹山 崇)
Age: 14

Takayama is a quiet boy who is always seen alone, watching the sky. Because of his condition as a birdman, he prefers to not get involved with people. He becomes a suburban legend after he's seen saving people multiple times. He's very considerate of others and likes to help people in need. He's kind and easily trusts people, making him quite naive. However, he's also very clever and skillful.

He is the mysterious birdman roaming the skies of Tokyo and the one who gave birth to the suburban legend that is the birdmen. Takayama is the one who saves Karasuma Eishi, Kamoda Mikisada, Sagisawa Rei and Tsubame Umino who were on the verge of death following a bus accident by making them drink his blood, thus turning them into birdmen.

Tsubame Umino (海野 つばめ)

Tsubame is an energetic girl, always with a smile on her face and is described as an honest, sweet girl. She is friends with Sagisawa Rei. As children they went to the same cram school. After Sagisawa started studying under a private tutor, they stopped seeing each other, although they met again a couple of years later.

It is suggested she has a one-sided crush on Takayama Sou.

Mikisada Kamoda (鴨田 樹真)
Age: 14

He is Karasuma Eishi's childhood friend. Following a bus accident he becomes a birdman along with his friend.

Kamoda is a kind, friendly, somewhat naive and childish with a straightforward nature. Because of his athletic, sturdy body people often approach and urge him to enter their shady groups. It is also stated that he had to quit karate and basketball because of the fights. He has a soft spot for small, slender girls, however they're always scared away by his appearance. He's also a big cat lover.

Sagisawa Rei (鷺沢 怜)
Age: 15

He is an attractive boy with an outgoing, cheerful, friendly attitude, always willing to make new friends. Although he seems to be just another rich, superficial boy, he turns to be very caring and considerate of others. Sagisawa is also very clever, being the first one to discover their supernatural powers.

As a child he used to admire his older brother, who was a painter and sculptor. Said brother is stated to have committed suicide after getting into an argument with their father.

Sagisawa is known to be afraid of bugs.
