Synopsis: Oz Williams is a kid genius who has a special power when it comes to helping the dead get revenge!
19th century London is the place where kid detective Oz Williams and his unusual assistant live. Oz helps solve cases that the police have trouble with and in the end, the murderer always ends up killing themselves due to a mysterious power Oz shows them in order to take revenge for the dead.
Oz has the ability to hear the dead and in the form of a Jack-o-lantern, the dead take their revenge on their killer. Oz loves sweets and always wears a Halloween costume all year round, so that's why he is known as the Halloween detective!

Side notes: I'm more or less been stunned about how violent some shoujo mangas are and this isn't any exception to the rule (if it is a shoujo). It had a nice feeling and touch going on but it turned more to gore than I expected. Art is mostly well made as one can wait from shoujo but there are also clear elements that don't sit so well to the genre main image... and last time I saw same type of expression was on Seinen manga that I also picked up today... Dungeon seeker... where the character had a total melt down just like with this manga's many suspects end up having.
About the plot, there is mostly episodic chapters that follow each other like a case studies but the big picture evolves the triangle formed the main characters Volker Rattvald, Oz Williams and his "servant" Theodore. Although Volker is replaced at times with the priest Christopher Delt.
Oz a 9 years old mysterious boy and living without his parents in Victorian times London. His parents were killed when he was a young child and his only companion at the moment is the "servant" Theodore.
He likes to "play" detective and due of his supernatural gifts he can see dead people. As he revenges their deaths he usually ends up also to be killed by the culprit but that's the way how things work and he can make the judgement upon their souls with his "skill" Jack o Lantern (Jack O'Lanterns are also souls that wish a revenge after death).

Oz's "servant" who lives with him and acts his guardian. Has the ability to revive Oz after his "death."

He's shinigami, God of death also known as Hyde. Originally he was a human but changed in time to "shinigami." He also has a wish to die after he's first groomed Oz to become his heir. For that reason he stole the weapon from the priest with two silver bullets so he could commit a suicide.
