"Ushiro: the Somber God of Death" is what you get when Japanese horror meets Beetlejuice! Based on a cancelled Level Five game and a series of now popular horror novels written by Gotou Ryu, the manga adapts stories from the novels as faithfully as possible.

Ushiro spends his days looking for people desperate enough to die so he can approach them to convince them to die, so he can eat their souls. Despite how it seems though, he is not completely heartless, offering to grant the people a single wish to come true in exchange for it. However, much to Ushiro's dismay, an upbeat high school girl can actually see him, and on top of that she goes out of her way to convince people not to die.

Being drawn together through some kind of string of fate, the two go on to meet several different people who are struggling with hurtful pasts, perverted presents and foul futures, both doing what they can to help.

Side notes: I soo forgot to add my mumble and picus 'cause I's so busy during the week. Now it's about three days later when I's just checking that I've not forgotten anything major... and here I am... no mumble nor picus.XDD But I hope it's okay since there is only one chapter been translated as now.^-^

The art is on the good level and the monsters really made me think monsters on Gibli movies like Spirited away and Howl's castle or in Moomin. Still the story that started this series isn't anything like that. And it's one of those type of stories that I'm having hard to accept... I just don't get the need of bullying, becoming "strong" by bullying someone else, controlling with fear. That's the most weakest thing that I can think about people doing. But I'm no psychologist so I can't start analyzing about it here. I'm sure there is always reasons but still... there is no good reason to hurt someone else.

P.S. I'm still a bit confused about the two series that MAL and Baka updates present. They seem to be the same manga but the artist and author names differ. And the first story seems to be the same... but maybe that due of the original setting that the story has.
