Bato.to: The heroine, Akira, a 2nd year middle school student, lives on an island that being peaceful is its only feature. Everyone in her class is her childhood friend. They were thinking that this year too like the other years would be a peaceful year with the usual classmates. But at a time like this a transfer student called “Matsushirou Nishigami” appears, saying: “Anyone who gets close to me dies”. What is the true meaning of his words…?

Background

Due to the author Himura Masaki's illness, Shindere Shoujo to Kodoku na Shinigami was put on an indefinite hiatus after its 20th chapter was published on March 28, 2013. Himura passed away on June 17, 2015 after more than two years of fighting cancer, leaving this and another series she started while being in the hospital—Nyuuin Note (Hospitalization Notebook)—in an unfinished state. The last volume containing chapters 15 to 20 was published only in digital format on September 24.

Side notes: I really was thinking should or should I not to add this manga here today. It fits perfectly to the theme that I was using today and has good statistics... but it was never finished due the death of the author. T.T Still I decided to add it on as an reference work if not anything else and 'cause I'm not making extra manga today it's on the main list now. The art on this manga is clean and on decent level so no problems there. The story itself is more  puzzle to solve... there is some stereotypes involved but they are not being too much burden for the story. As looking back in time one can kinda feel a premonition in the theme and the author's own life story... but that's only speculation made afterwards with no truth in it.^-^ As it is now it is okay storyline though some things do happen kinda "too" fast and I'm not that keen about that.

P.s. The first story begins and ends with the same scene.

Main characters

Matsushirou Nishigami (西神 松枝郎)

A 2nd year middle school prodigy who transferred into Akira's class after the 2nd semester began. He believes anyone who gets near him (anyone he grow attached to) will die. He lives in an old, rundown house with his uncle.

Akira Wakanae (若苗 彰)

2nd-year middle school student who lives alone with her father on a rural and peaceful island. She yearns for life outside of the island (planning to leave once she enters high school).
