Synopsis: Killy is a man of few words. He wanders, seemingly endlessly, through a lonely, gargantuan labyrinth of concrete and steel, fighting off cyborgs and other futuristic nightmares, searching only for something called Net Terminal Genes. And he has a very powerful gun, which he uses without hesitation whenever anything resembling danger rears its ugly head.
Who is this quiet, violent, determined man and what are these Genes he seeks? The small communities he finds tucked into the crevices of this towering, dystopian ruin hardly give him leads on his treasure, driving him to find larger enclaves of civilization where people can reveal more about the world he lives in and the quarry he seeks.

Side notes: Nihei Tsutomu is now pretty much the News. His manga GANTZ has been adapted into a 3CG movie and also Blame! is receiving an Anime Movie adaptation. Also his manga Sidonia no Kishi was adapted into two TV Anime's not a long ago. So he has been busy with working on those projects. The art is on a good if not a great level but a bit sketchy. My problem was story that I'm not familiar with and getting into it took some time. In one sense it's a traditional dungeon centered adventure manga in closed space moved into futuristic setting and a survival game. Not that big difference, only thing that changes is the outlook of the monster and way they fight.
Main characters
Killy (霧亥)
Killy is main character who is on the unenviable task to find a human with the Net Terminal Gene within the Megastructure to access the Netsphere. He is equipped with a Gravitational Beam Emitter (GBE), a petite but awesome weapon capable of creating holes miles long in the Megastructure. He is soon joined by Cibo in his quest.
Looking to be in his early to mid 20s (Once saying that his "growth period is over."), he is a glum looking person, never smiling (except madly when shooting on occasion) and has a slight slouch in his normal standing position, he isn't afraid to fight, and readily shoots the GBE. He also often shows superhuman strength and endurance, being thrown through solid walls and floors before standing right back up with no apparent injuries.
Cibo
She is the head scientist of the Electronic Corporation in the Capitol and joins Killy on his quest for the Net Terminal Gene.
Killy's first encounter with Cibo is in the lower levels of the Corporation in The Capitol, where she has been imprisoned for attempting to access the Net Sphere with an artificially created version of Net Terminal Genes. Her failed attempt to access the Net Sphere led to the appearance of the Safeguard, which destroyed the entire lab facility in which Cibo was conducting the experiment. The death and destruction resulting from Cibo's failed experiment led the governing body of the Corporation to convict and imprison her.
Cibo's first form is the decaying upper torso of a woman kept alive by machinery inserted into her body. She convinces Killy to take her with him by stating that he needs her hacking skills to access the files he is looking for. Afterwards, she acquires a human form and destroys The Corporation's President with Killy's help.
After the President's destruction, Cibo leaves the Corporation to travel with Killy because he is also exploring the City and is equipped with a GBE, the only weapon that can breach the Megastructure.
