Synopsis: Crimes committed using manned combat-androids dubbed "Katana" run rampant. In an effort to maintain order, the government has organized the Anti Katana Crime Division (AKCD). Togusa of the 8th squad of the AKCD, while holding existential doubts as a Human-Katana hybrid, continually casts himself into battle.

Side notes: There is no official English release for the series yet so one needs to check up the English scanlations online but there is no hurry... translation of this series is ... slow and the Japanese manga is also on hiatus at the moment. The synopsis or the setting was something that got me interested so I'm continuing to read this manga some more. The art itself is quite average and backgrounds are pretty bleak but it's not messy type of art so it's easy to follow up. And the story...well at least as far as I've read it (1st volume) it's been a bit too simplistic development but it probably deepens as the story is getting further on (though the hiatus makes me a bit hesitant about the future of the series).

Main characters

Togusa

Member of AKCD's Eighth Squad; a half-human, half-katana hybrid. "Younger brother" of Yachiyo, Division 8's other anti-katana enforcer.

He is inscribed "Yatsuka", from "Yatsuka no Tsurugi" , and was created by a female researcher, Amamiya Kyouko.

Togusa produces blades of various sizes from his body, often from his hands.

Shinobu Hiyama

Leader of Squad 2; uses a male katana, "Kogarasumaru". Almost no one knows Hiyama's real appearance; Yachiyo and Togusa are exceptions. 

"Shinobu-chan", as she is later called, is a young, blonde-haired girl who cares for her grandmother. She also frequents a herbal drugstore, which she reccomends to Togusa.

Juuzou Tsukiyama

Squad 8's swordsmith. A middle-aged man who acts as a technician for Tsurumaru. He lives with Togusa and Yachiyo.

Seri Yachiyo

A member of Squad 8; her katana is inscribed "Tsurumaru". She loves to drink, and leaves all the chores to Togusa. She also helped to name Togusa, and acts as an older sister to him.

She hates tomatoes.

Kaede Minamoto

Leader of Squad 4; operates the katana "Shinshou". she has a slightly flirtatious attitude towards Togusa, but is a strict within her own squad. Apparently enjoys to drink.

Seems to favor bunny hops up the temple stairs as a punishment.

Supporting

Shikoku Shirou

Leader of the 6th Squad. Uses anime characters as his mobile phone's wallpaper. Is a skilled member of the force and uses Kiku-Ichimonji named katana.

Inuzuka

Member of the 4th Squad.
