Synopsis: Spirits known as kamui are thrown into chaos when the sacred spirit Okikurumi is taken from Atsuma's village, and the imbalance threatens to destroy Earth. Infused with the spirit of an ancient sword, Atsuma must leave his village to reclaim Okikurumi.
He encounters NOA, an organization of youths who wield the power of the kamui, and who may hold the key to Okikurumi. Atsuma is recruited into NOA by Sumire, a young woman with an empty soul who yearns for a miracle. Atsuma and his new companions must work together to find Okikurumi before the world is destroyed.

Side notes: This manga is something that I'd say is somewhere between the old school and new shounen manga genre. It's closer to seinen than traditional happy go lucky type of adventure and has darker sci-fi elements in it. But hold on! This is a shoujo.XD Yup and somehow it has the same feeling as 20th century boys by the setting and I wouldn't be too much surprised if there are some influences taken from that side. And I really would like to add josei to the tag list 'cause this isn't light shoujo story by far.
The reason to pick up this series was art and synopsis but I's more or less let down by both of them. To say it clear it's too loose or airy to fill up the scope that it has set on. Although there is action and mysterious characters with hidden goals... there is no real glue to make it stick together and create a story that captures readers attention.(Or my problem to get feel from this is just 'cause it's a shoujo manga. Shoujo and me don't match so well.>.<)
Main characters
Atsuma Hasumi
Atsuma is sent by his village in the north to retrieve the stolen sacred spirit, Okikurumi. Betrayed by someone he once admired, he trusts no one and keeps himself distanced from others. He is infused by Kojomaru, the spirit of an ancient sword. He later gains the ability to absorb the powers of kamui.
Later on he's is separated from Kojomaru who takes a new host from Sumire Senou.
Sumire Senou
Sumire is NOA's second-in-command and Tensho (Commander of the Heaven Division). Bored and lonely, she brings Atsuma into NOA hoping to witness the miracle of which he speaks. She yearns for Utsuho but has been rejected by him. Sumire pursues Utsuho in order to stop him and gain his affection. She is infused with the power of the wind.
Utsuho Hasumi
Utsuho is the head researcher of the government lab. As the name suggest he's related to Atsuma by blood. He's Atsuma's older brother and one that betrayed the village by taking Okikurumi from his village.
Shui Tachibana (橘朱衣)
Shui is a 2nd lieutenant of NOA who takes Atsuma under his wing. He's childhood friends with Aika, though she doesn't remember him. An adept cook that likes to take care of others, his voice holds a strange attraction for both Atsuma and Sumire. He has promised to follow Atsuma to help him stop Utsuho. He is infused with the power of fire.

Hyde
Hyde is a lieutenant general of NOA and holds the number three position behind Sumire. As the Chisho, he is in charge of the Earth Division. Crazy and sadistic, he is obsessed with destruction.
After defeat to Atsuma/ Kojimaru he loses his mind and becomes more or less like a puppet that is controlled by his ex-underling Yanagi.
Kojomaru
Kojomaru is the kamui (spirit) of an ancient sword from Atsuma's village. In return for the use of his powers, Atsuma allows Kojomaru to fuse with his body. Despite his ability and age, he is both short-tempered and immature. It seems Kojomaru is part of a chain-reaction of events necessary to revive Okikurumi.

Aika
Aika is a 1st lieutenant at NOA and Sumire's right-hand woman. She is completely devoted to Sumire and only wishes to be by her side. She appears to be strict and uncaring, which comes from her reluctance to trust anyone but Sumire. She is Shui's childhood friend.
Shiki
Shiki is the top general of NOA. Despite assuming an air of royalty, he is unemotional. He uses NOA as a cage to keep Sumire bound to him.
Yanagi
Yanagi is a 1st lieutenant of NOA and Hyde's right-hand man. He is both smart and calculating. Although loyal to Hyde, he keeps in close contact with Shiki.
His true loyalties actually lie with Utsuho, who Yanagi worships as a god. It is revealed that Yanagi is actually a clone, used for Okikurumi experiments. Utsuho has deemed him no longer useful and threw him in the jail cells of NOA to be killed.
