Side notes: I do wonder does this fit into new translation projects or not. Baka updates and the manga reading site that I cross-checked both titled it as a new series but as I searched a bit more I found out that the scanlation of the series began already in August 2015. ... You didn't notice that, nee? But as I don't have time to change my pick I'll leave it be and pretend that it's a new series. >.<; Well let's talk about the art... ... ...it has many different levels to say so. It can be considered to be good level mostly but then there are parts that go through a total change of art style. That makes it a bit hard to say is the art good or not. The first story also progresses a bit slow but it gives a good sense how the whole series is working out with its eccentric characters.^-^
Main character
When he was young, he was in the same college as Kyougokudou and Sekiguchi. Despite being their senior, he quickly became friends with Kyougokudou thanks to their common natural weirdness. He is also a childhood friend of Kiba.
During the war when he was a child, Reijiro practically lost his sight that resulted in gaining in him a special ability to see the floating memories of the people around him. In order to exploit this gift, he became a private detective at the "Rose and Cross" agency he founded himself.
He had a hard time remembering people's names and often teases Sekiguchi for looking like a Turtle. On this manga when he finally appears he acts more or less like maniac. Also like babies like they were kittens/ puppies.
Supporting
Akihiko Chuuzenji (中禅寺 秋彦)
An antique book dealer christened "Kyougokudou" after the name of his store. Also a part-time Shinto priest who performs pseudo "exorcisms" to solve psychological problems, despite the fact that he himself does not believe in the supernatural.
He is fond of spouting knowledge on a variety of obscure subjects, and enjoys philosophical discussion.
He solved the case of the dismembered murder and revealed everything in the last 2 episodes of the anime.
He is friends with Sekiguchi, Eno and Kiba. Also, he has a little sister named Atsuko who is a reporter. Married to Chizu.
Masuda Ryuuichi, Enokizu's assistant. Former police officer. |
Kazutora, Enokizu's servant and secretary. |
I'm still thinking should I add also the clients here or not.
Others... not directly related to this manga but they were mentioned with the previous character presentations and also in the manga.
Tatsumi Sekiguchi (関口 巽)
He's a novelist but, as his short stories don't allow him to live properly, he often works for the press. He was in the same college as Kyougokudou and hangs around with him. He's often teased by his friends in regards to his poor social skills.
During the war, Sekiguchi fought with Kiba in the same regiment. While the details about this period are unknown, it is implied that Sekiguchi is a deserter who suffers from psychological disorders because of what he saw and did during the war.
He has a wife named Yukie.
Shutaro Kiba (木場 修太郎)
Detective from Metropolitan Police Department in Tokyo.
He is friends with Kyougokudou, Enoki and Sekiguchi.
He's in love with Yuzuki Yoko.
