Synopsis: Mekakushi no Kuni is the story of high school student Outsuka Kanade who can sometimes see a person's future with a touch, and transfer student Naitou Arou, whose ESP is limited to past events. When Kanade glimpses an unfortunate incident coming, can she change it? She soon befriends Arou, who's no novice. While Kanade’s power is limited to the near future and is somewhat incontrollable, Arou’s is permanent and he can even use it to see an object’s “memories”. Are these teenaged seers of the past and future made for each other? And who's right: Arou with his "hands off" policy about meddling in people's lives, or Kanade whose more proactive stance has already had unhappy consequences?

Side notes: This manga is on my extra list mainly due of its good reputation. At the same time it's an oldie which I thought would be nice change of pace and would fit today's list.^-^ As in general it also ended up to the Extra list 'cause I'm not sure about do I like it or not.XDDD I'm not avid shoujo manga reader so that's the main reason for the placing on here but that doesn't count if other like it and enjoy reading this manga.^-^b
P.S. The spoilers from character descriptions are left out.^-^

Main characters
Arou Naitou (内藤あろう)
He lost his mother a while ago, and always blamed himself. He lives with his father who is rarely at home, but they love each other all the same. An accomplished cook, Arou makes lunch for Kanade (and Namiki, the uninvited guest), who often mourns the fact that her cooking "wouldn't hold a candle to his". Shy and introverted, Arou opens up to no one but Kanade (and Namiki, his romantic rival with whom he often argues). Although Arou is quite popular and could easily go out with any girl in the school, he would never choose any of them over Kanade because Kanade is always able to cheer him up no matter how depressed or unhappy he is. Called Arou-kun by his friends. Even though he and Namiki fight a lot, they actually really care about each other.
Masahiro Namiki (並木昌廣)
Masahiro has a vision about a man getting hit by a car - and it doesn't happen! Masahiro is flabbergasted and believes it has got to do with the girl (Kanade) who prevented it from happening. So he transfers to her school and finds out he isn't the only one seeing things. Unlike Kanade Masahiro can see the future when he wants to see it. Quickly he befriends with the Kanade and becomes Arou's love rival.
His transfer may be weird to the outside world: his previous school was a famous boarding school, and he always has gotten the highest grades in school. From time to time Masahiro helps Kanade and Arou with their homework as their sempai. There is, however, a creeping suspicion Masahiro gets his high scores on his tests with his clairvoyance.
Changing schools changed Masahiro for the better. Before meeting Kanade Masahiro was a rather pessimistic and lonely kid knowing only rejection and a dog-eat-dog world. Kanade gave Masahiro a look into a world with hope, ideals and no rejection. Kanade also made him realise that his powers could (and, arguably, should) be used for non-selfish reasons. He even gets himself pets, and starts laughing like a regular kid.
Even though his family is alive, Masahiro lives alone and has got himself a guardian.
Kanade Ootsuka (大塚かなで)
Cheerful and kind, Kanade does not always consider the consequences of her actions when she tries to change the outcome of her visions, often at the expense of her own safety (for example, trying to save her ex-firefighter grandfather from dying in a burning building as a young child). She can see the future once in a while. Kanade and Arou are a couple by the beginning of Volume 2, with Arou confessing that he really likes her at the very end of Volume 1. Kanade loves Arou's cooking (as well as Arou himself) and they have many romantic moments together. Kanade has a platonic relationship with Namiki. She is called Kanade-chan by her friends and Outsuka by her teachers.
